Wouldn’t the world be a better place without windows?
Microsoft’s windows operating system has dominated the market in recent years. However recent market analysis is starting to indicate that Mac is catching up – but still a long long way to go!
It can be argued that people are starting to move over towards macs. The daily mail recently reported that macs are seen by the middle classes as a ‘must have’ brand. Apple argue that the appeal of a mac is that ‘it just works’. At AGL Host, we are big mac fans. In our office we are a Microsoft free zone, all computers are macs and our internal file servers are linux. The only Microsoft product in use is their latest edition of Microsoft office, which is currently being used a a drinks coaster by our graphics designer. The argument that a mac just works from our experience is true. We find that you can work more productively on a mac since you dont have worries about crashing, viruses and spyware.
So this raises the argument. Would the would be a better place without windows?
Yes …
People would have much more stable computers.
and servers? Linux has already won the data centre war, with offers of lower costs and increased stability.
But on a positive, Microsoft have managed to finally fix the blue screen of death crashing issue. BBC radio 1 last week reported that the company have now replaced it with a completely different ‘black screen of death’ – a issues many windows 7 users have been complaining about.
